The house we decided to buy in West Virginia was built around 1835 by Captain David Pugh, although this detail was not known to us when we bought it. (Click here for a brief history of the house and our efforts to renew its lease on life).
In September 2004, as Hampshire County, West Virginia celebrates its 250th anniversary, the Captain David Pugh House was accepted on the National Register of Historic Places. We have reproduced and augmented the information from our application in the pages below.
